We’ve come a long way since Thomas Edison invented the first domestic incandescent light bulb way back in the 19th Century. Although incandescent light bulbs were the most commonly used until only as recently as the beginning of the 21st Century.
Now incandescent light bulbs are being phased out. Now there are a variety of different light sources to choose from.
The first different source of lighting to replace incandescent light was halogen. Halogen lighting is a white light that shows true colour, perfect for picture lights. However haologen bulbs use a lot of energy so they are being replaced by LED lights.
LED lights also come in a variety of colours and are being used to change ambience and style of a room.
LED lights use very little electricity and the quality of LED lights is improving all the time. Some manufacturers claim LED lights will last up to 100,000 hours. We’ll have to wait and see if they are going to last that long but they will come down in price.
